The consultation period with interested stakeholders in relation to Employee Shares Schemes (ESS), after the issue of the Employee Share Schemes and Start-up Companies: Administration and Taxation Arrangement discussion paper, reported on in August last year, has now ended.

Issues raised in submissions made during the consultation period are now being considered in light of the Taskforce set up by the Prime Minister to develop a National Industry Investment and Competitiveness Agenda. The Taskforce is due to make recommendations to the Government by mid 2014.

By way of background, the Taskforce was set up by the Prime Minister to focus on measures to promote national competitiveness and productivity as a result of the reduction in Australia’s manufacturing industry.
