Classifying a worker as an employee or an independent contractor can be a challenging task. This difficulty has traditionally required an extensive review of the entire working relationship to determine its legal character. However, two long-awaited decisions of the High Court have clarified that – in certain circumstances – the analysis should be confined to the written terms of the contract as distinct from the subsequent conduct of the parties.
Please join Jasmine O’Brien to discuss the impact of these significant decisions for business. Jasmine will also be accompanied by Philippa Briglia of Sladen Legal, who will discuss when superannuation will still need to be paid to contractors.
Who should watch
Business owners and managers, HR professionals, Employee Relations specialists, accountants and self-employed people.
