About the role: 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our Business and Workplace Relations Teams in a full-time permanent capacity based out of our Melbourne CBD office. The ideal candidate will provide high-level administrative and legal support to our team of lawyers, ensuring the smooth operation of legal processes and efficient handling of client matters. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist lawyers with document drafting, editing, and formatting, including contracts, briefs, and correspondence. 

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date case files, ensuring proper filing and retrieval of legal documents. 

  • Provide administrative support such as managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating travel arrangements. 

  • Serve as a point of contact for client inquiries and facilitate effective communication between lawyers and clients. 

  • Assist in managing deadlines for legal projects and filings, ensuring timely completion. 

  • Conduct preliminary legal research and gather information for cases as needed. 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Previous experience in a legal assistant role, preferably within workplace relations or business law would be ideal but not essential. 

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document management software. 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Knowledge of legal procedures and processes, particularly in workplace relations.
