Powerful business figure, Janet Dore, has been appointed as chair of the Lantern Legal Group, parent company of Sladen Legal.

Janet, who last month ended a seven-year tenure as chief executive of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), will bring high-level organisational experience to the firm. In her role at TAC she was responsible for the successful implementation of a six-year strategy to achieve a $600m reduction in liabilities.

Dan Simmonds, managing principal of Sladen Legal, said that the approach of the firm has always been entrepreneurial. This is reflected in Janet’s appointment, being the first non-lawyer chair of the firm, and someone who will bring a unique and valuable perspective, shaped by her diverse experience with private business, the public sector and government agencies.

Janet has held board-level roles with NIB Health Funds, Newcastle Airport, NSW Heritage Council, NSW Sustainability Advisory Council and the Victorian Planning Appeals Tribunal.

Janet is looking forward to immersing herself in a progressive and vibrant firm, and continuing to play a role in the development of business in Victoria.
