It discusses how the wide reach of recent changes to the Victorian Duties Act in relation to ‘foreign trusts’ has the potential to catch many discretionary trusts.
Since this article was published, the Victorian Government has announced that it proposes to increase the foreign purchaser surcharge from 3% to 7% with effect for transactions entered into from 1 July 2016.
