Use of Shareholder Agreements in Succession Planning

This paper explores the role of shareholder agreements in assisting with achieving estate and succession planning objectives for wealthy families.

Whilst it may seem an unusual concept to blend something that is considered much more a commercial, contractual and sometimes business operational agreement in an estate planning context, as we will see through this paper, there are a number of ways a shareholders agreement (or similar agreement) can perform an important function in achieving the succession planning outcomes sought.
