Sladen Legal launches interactive, tailored professional development tool, Sladen Learning.

Sladen Legal have launched Sladen Learning, an online professional development platform delivering interactive, specialist courses to professionals Australia wide. Developed by the team of lawyers at Sladen Legal, Sladen Learning combines information, resources and activities to deliver engaging and educational short courses.

Principal Daniel Smedley said the team at Sladen Legal recognised a need in the market. “We often deliver seminars and events, speak at conferences and publish in national journals on the practical application of the law. Whilst these approaches to professional development are effective for the experienced adviser, we believe there is also a need for a learning environment where participants can progress through the material at their own pace and immediately apply the things they’re learning to test that knowledge.” he said.

In order to deliver an experience that can truly build capability and change behaviours Sladen Legal have partnered with Cahoot Learning. Cahoot have delivered learning models for top-tier organisations such as: Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Rio Tinto, NASA, Boeing, Australian Taxation Office, Amazon, US Air Force, UAE Police, National Australia Bank, Commonwealth Bank, Blackmores, EY, PwC, KPMG, Apple, Coca Cola and many, many more.

Sladen Learning will start by delivering 3 week micro courses designed for accountants, financial planners and advisors, lawyers and anyone with a particular interest in the chosen topic. The first course on Binding Death Benefit Nominations in the context of the superannuation law commences on 11 November 2019.

Phil Broderick, head of the Superannuation team at Sladen Legal said students can expect a unique and effective learning model. “Using the Cahoot model means our micro courses are built off the back of a magnitude of research on adult learning and the science of behaviour change.”

When discussing the course content and delivery he said students can expect, “clear learning objectives, live and self-paced activities, cross disciplinary discussions, mentoring, assessments, team based assignments and creative brainstorming activities. By the end of the course students will be able to draft and deliver a BDBN for their clients with confidence.” said Mr Broderick.

Enrolments are now open for the first two micro courses, Binding Death Benefit Nominations commencing in November 2019 and Essentials of Trust Structures commencing in February 2020. To secure your place head to sladenlearning.com.au
