David Syme is a commercial counsel in Sladen Legal’s business law area and has expertise providing strategic advice and commercial solutions to private and publicly-held companies and individual entrepreneurs.
David’s background is defined by his extensive experience in commercial, corporate and private business law, with a particular interest in mergers and acquisitions, due diligence projects and risk control. He provides regulatory advice on the Corporations Act, Australian Consumer Law matters and related areas, including corporate governance, conflicts of interest, related party issues, directors’ duties and liabilities.
Prior to joining Sladen Legal, David was a partner for over 30 years in a large private Melbourne law firm.
His experience and understanding of business also assists him to provide specialist advisory services to private clients in the areas of trust creation, variations and administration, estate planning, testamentary documents and structural and succession arrangements.
David’s other interests include over 30 years as a commissioned officer in the RAF reserves, extensive sailing and other boating activities, and he currently chairs the Portsea Foreshore Advisory Group.
